Ponte Buggianese spread between the Eastern Plains of Lucca and the southern Valdinievole. The territory is composed of a wetland of Padule of Fucecchio with various watercourses, as the torrent Pescia of Pescia. The economy is based on agriculture, the nursery industry and on construction, active mainly in the northern part of the municipality. In the past the area was covered with marshes, making it possible its habitability only after the drainage of water, the first document in which it is mentioned dates from the sixteenth century.
